"Politibabble" hopes to raise profile of political discussion among teenagers
A group of four teenagers have come together to produce a new podcast discussing Manx and International political topics every week.
“Politibabble” is being produced by Archie Elliott, Ewan McLelland, Breeshey Shaw and Sam Roe.
Archie says they're aiming to reach an international audience:
Breeshey and Sam’s political interest grew when they became a part of the IOMYouth4Syria Campaign, which unsuccessfully petitioned Tynwald to launch a committee which would investigate bringing 25 syrian refugees into the Isle of Man, last year.
Speaking to Manx Radio, Sam said the political decision against launching a select committee exposes a weakness in the Manx government:
Breeshey said politicians’ treatment of youngsters would be a deciding factor, when standing at a polling station:
Archie and Ewan are part of the Student Climate Network who stage protests and lobby government on climate issues.
Ewan says the current Coronavirus situation proves government can make changes quickly when it has to:
To get involved with debates with the politibabble team or raise topics for discussion on the podcst, you can follow @Politibabble on Twitter and email politibabble@gmail.com.
The podcast is available to listen to on Spotify and other major podcast providers.
