Chair Jean Teare hopes to have a 'broad range' of people step forward

The Chair of Port St Mary Commissioners says new people joining the board will be able to work 'first hand' on community projects.

There are two seats available on the board following the retirement of Bernadette Williams and departure of Glenys Brunt.

It's also inviting people to its board meeting at 6pm on 28 October at the town hall to learn more about what it does and how it operates.

Jean Teare says she'd recommend prospective candidates put together a 'small leaflet' for residents to understand what they think about issues in the port.

Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to her:

People wanting to stand in any of the constituencies can collect forms from the town hall and return them between 10am on 28 October and 1pm on 4 November.

If more than two people stand, polling will take place on Thursday 3 December.
