New legislative drafters appointed

Chief Minister admis workload is expected to increase following Brexit

Two new legislative drafters have been appointed as the government prepares for an expected increase in its workload following Brexit.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle confirmed the position in Tynwald this morning (Tuesday) and said there was now confidence there were sufficient resources to deal with primary legislation.

It takes the number of drafters in the Attorney General Chambers to six.

Speaker of the House of Keys, Rushen MHK Juan Watterson, had asked whether adequate resources were in place to ensure legislation could be progressed swiftly.
