Dhoon Primary School will have a new headteacher after Christmas.
David Jenkins will take over Fran McLean who is retiring at the end of the autumn term, after twelve years in charge of the school, and 36 years in teaching.
Manxman Mr Jenkins returned to the Island in 2003 to work at Onchan Primary School as literacy coordinator.
Since then, he has worked at Ashley Hill School and has been deputy headteacher at St John's School since February 2007.
He says he is looking forward to continuing 'the outstanding work inspired by Mrs McLean'.
Dhoon School has just over 100 puoils and it's hoped Mr Jenkins can take his new position just after Christmas.
