New fish species for Manx waters could be sign of climate change

Small Headed Clingfish typically prefers waters in southern England

The discovery of a new species of fish in Manx waters could point towards the effects of climate change.

The Manx Wildlife Trust says the Small Headed Clingfish was spotted by one of its volunteers - Jon Russell-Dunn - in Douglas Bay.

It grows to around four centimetres, has only been recorded three times in Ireland and is mostly found in the south of the UK.

Mr Dunn photographed the fish in 2022 but was only recently told how rare his discovery was:
