Route being highlighted at event this weekend
The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim in Northern Ireland is welcoming the introduction of a new sea route between the Isle of Man and Larne.
Councillor Jackson Minford says the service being introduced by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company will provide a significant boost for connectivity, tourism and trade in Mid and East Antrim.
The Steam Packet has made a two-year commitment to the route and will run three sailings a week all year round from July.
The Larne service, announced in October last year, represents a major investment in strengthening links between the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland.
Steam Packet Managing Director, Brian Thomson says the introduction of the Larne service reflects the company's long-tern commitment to growing travel and tourism across the Irish Sea.
From July the refurbished Ben-my-Chree will become the dedicated vessel for both Larne and Dublin services.
