New electrical vehicle training course powers up at UCM

It's for anyone who carries out EV repairs

New training aimed at anyone who carries out electric vehicle repairs is now available on the Island.

University College Isle of Man has launched a new EV training programme with the Institute of the Motor Industry and Isle of Man Government’s Climate Change Transformation Team.

The three-day course, run by Pro-Tech Automotive Academy, teaches technicians to safely diagnose, test, and repair hybrid and electric vehicles, including damaged high-voltage systems.

With EVs now outpacing diesel on the Island and 22% of new cars being electric or hybrid, UCM says the initiative future-proofs the workforce and supports local businesses.

UCM Motor Vehicle staff have also now been trained to deliver future sessions, which UCM says will ensure long-term sustainability and a skilled, environmentally focused automotive sector.
