New drugs policies could be delayed due to lack of resources

Debate currently scheduled to take place in November

Plans to bring new policies designed to tackle the impact of drugs could be delayed due to a lack of resources.

Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson says her department is aiming to have the proposals ready for November's sitting of Tynwald, but limited resources mean the date is at risk.

A review into the harms caused by illicit drugs got underway in 2022, with the Department of Home Affairs having since met with ministers and Tynwald members to finalise policy principles.

The debate was initially due to take place in the first quarter of 2024, before being pushed back to April, and then November.
