New DoI Minister: 'I was surprised to be offered the job'

Haywood looking forward to challenge following political elevation

The new infrastructure minister has told Manx Radio she was ‘surprised’ to be offered the job.

Michelle Haywood was elevated to the Council of Ministers following a political reshuffle by Chief Minister Alfred Cannan.

The Rushen MHK was elected in 2021 and this represents her first ministerial posting.

And she says she’s already seeing an increase in correspondence since her appointment was announced:

DoI political member, and Middle MHK, Stu Peters has since resigned from his role within the department citing potential conflict with the new minister saying it is right that she has the chance to pick her own team.
