Fishermen to require licences
New controls on whelk fishing in Manx waters are on the horizon.
From 17 August, fishermen will need a licence to catch the molluscs between 3 and 12 miles from the shore.
Far eastern markets for the seafood delicacy have expanded recently, and the Island's fishery authorities say stocks need to be protected.
The new restrictions follow consultation with the sector.
