New Castletown Road to shut this morning for stud installation

Meanwhile temporary 30mph speed limit to be lifted

New Castletown Road is to shut this morning to all traffic (15 May) between Fort North roundabout and Mount Murray.

The Department of Infrastructure says the closure is effective from 9.30am and should be lifted by about midday 'barring any unforeseen circumstances'.

It's confirmed that this should be the final day of the current series of daytime closures on the route.

Meanwhile, resurfacing and associated line marking in the Newtown, Santon section of the road will be paused until after TT, with the site demobilised by 4pm tomorrow at which point the temporary 30mph speed limit will be lifted.

The DOI says: "It is intended that the team will return to this area on the week commencing Monday 16 June when it will resurface between the Moaney Road and Clanna Road junctions.

"This work will take up to a fortnight to complete.

"Once the new surface has been laid the remaining road studs through Newtown will be set in the carriageway."
