Nearly 300 fixed penalty notices issued over TT

Police say they took 'fair but firm' approach

Nearly 300 fixed penalty notices were issued during the TT fortnight this year.

The Roads Policing Unit describe the fortnight as its busiest time of the year with the influx of visitors for the races.

Police here are bolstered by support from the UK and the constabulary says a ‘firm but fair’ approach was taken.

Numerous incidents were seen over the two-week period including 282 endorsable fixed penalty notices and 14 fixed penalty notices.

Fifteen prosecution files were issued, whilst seven cautions were given.

Drug wipe testing – which was brought into the force's arsenal in 2022 - saw 47 tests administered; 17 of those came up positive.

Meanwhile 55 roadside breath tests were undertaken – six of those were positive.

Twenty-seven arrests were made.
