Nearly 1,000 people still registered to use MiCards

The service allowing benefits or pensions to be collected in cash will be shut down at the end of the year

There are still 935 MiCard users who haven't switched to an alternative payment method.

The treasury minister's revealed the figure in the House of Keys today (Tuesday 11 November).

The card service - which allows people to collect their benefits or pension in cash at Isle of Man Post Office branches - will be shut down at the end of the year.

In June, there were 1,536 registered users.

A number of concerns have been raised about options for those without bank accounts, but Alex Allinson says recipients have had a lot of notice and Treasury is working on other options:
