Police warning about social media scam
Police say a resident has had a ‘near miss’ after being targeted by scammers.
They were offered a remote working opportunity over Facebook but prior to payment being made for the work completed the ‘company’ demanded an upfront cash payment.
Officers say thankfully on this occasion the person involved didn’t hand over any money.
But they’re warning people that if something seems too good to be true ‘it generally is’.
