Building society to close next year
An Island-based building society has confirmed it will shut its doors next year, with 70 jobs set to go in Douglas.
The fate of Nationwide International has been uncertain for several months - it's now understood operations will wind up around September 2017.
Existing customers are being assured their money 'remains in safe hands' for the time being.
Bosses say it's the result of a 'thorough review' by parent company Nationwide, taking into account demand, running costs and the value of operating on the Island.
