Condemnation of IoM poverty situation
Nationalist party Mec Vannin has made a £500 donation to the Isle of Man Foodbank, seeking to highlight the plight of those at 'crisis point'.
Following a meeting this week, members voted to give the party's surplus cash to the charity and expressed 'growing concern' about the increasing numbers of people using the non-profit service.
Chairman Mark Kermode says donations are part of the social ethos of the party and IOM Foodbank was the 'obvious choice'.
Mec Vannin has been thanked by the charity and party members invited to visit its headquarters at Cronkbourne.
The party is urging the public, businesses and other organisations to donate to the foodbank over the winter period to support the charity and ensure nobody has to face hunger and difficulty.
