Tim Baker urges public to use common sense
The chair of Manx Utilities is calling on the public to be ‘responsible’ with water usage, following the introduction of a hosepipe ban at midnight last night (Friday, 5 June).
It’s thought the island’s reservoirs have dropped to around 75% of capacity - even lower than at this time two years ago when the last ban was imposed following a period of drought.
Tim Baker is directing people to the organisation’s website for more information on what is and isn't allowed, but says it’s mostly common sense:
People can be fined as much as £2,000 for breaking the rules.
