The family home is next to Winerite
Manx Utilities has confirmed a proposed substation for Victoria Road in Douglas will be erected away from a neighbouring property.
On Monday, the Smith family received a letter about works to be done on the land, which used to be Winerite.

But yesterday, they say they were shocked to learn that a substation, under 29 square metres, would be built less than five metres away from the home and parallel to a bedroom window.
Adam told Manx Radio they had concerns with having a high voltage electric system facility next to the family home - which he explained to a MU employee on the site:
In response, the authority has told Manx Radio it's been working with Tesco and the neighbouring property owner to solve the issue raised and the substation will be moved.
A statement reads: "The substation will be moved and this arrangement is to the satisfaction of the property owner."
