Mountain Road closure cancelled

DOI says decision made due to poor visibility

Tonight's scheduled Mountain Road Closure will now not go ahead.

The Department of Infrastructure says it's due to the current poor visibility, which is predicted to carry on into the night.

It says it's 'considered unsafe to strim and flail in these conditions'.

The decision means two of the five evening closures planned for this week have had to be postponed.

However, tomorrow’s weather (Friday 9 August) is predicted to be much better, so that closure will go ahead from 6.30pm.

Due to disruption to the work this week, the DOI says a decision will be made at the end of tomorrow’s session about whether any provisional closures (available during the week commencing Monday 12 August) will be required to complete the planned works.

A further announcement will be made as soon as this information is available
