Motorist fined £1K after driving vehicle with 31 faults

Magistrates also impose penalty points due to 'magnitude' of defects

A Port Erin man has been fined £1,000 after driving a vehicle with more than 30 faults.

Arron Hugh Campbell, of Edremony Estate, had his Mitsubishi seized by police in Castletown on 14 August last year.

It was taken to the Vehicle Testing Centre where examiners determined it was unroadworthy and should not be used on a public highway.

The 48-year-old admitted having a vehicle in a dangerous condition, via postal admission, at Douglas Courthouse.

He advised magistrates he was not aware of the defects adding: “I would never knowingly put my children, or any other passenger, at risk.”

Fining him, and ordering him to pay £50 in prosecution costs, Magistrates also endorsed his driving licence with three penalty points due to the ‘magnitude’ of the defaults.
