Douglas man admits driving without care and attention
A Ronague man who crashed into a wall and telegraph pole has appeared before magistrates.
Thirty-six-year-old David John Lawrence Carter of Ballafodda Farm pleaded guilty to two offences at Douglas Courthouse.
A charge of failing to stop after an accident was withdrawn by the prosecution, but Carter admitted driving without due care and attention and failing to report a crash.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing the incident happened at around 2.30pm on 26 January when a passerby rang police about damage to a stone wall on Old School Road in Rushen.
Officers went to the scene to investigate, and thought there was so much damage the car responsible couldn't have driven far.
They searched the area and found Carter’s Ford Ranger in a church car park – the vehicle had been heavily damaged.
Mr Kane said he would apply for £757 compensation on behalf of Manx Utilities to cover the cost of repairs.
Magistrates bailed Carter to appear for sentencing on 27 June.
