Tynwald instead votes to recognise the role they play in strengthening Manx economy
A call to 'urgently review' the Island's net-zero targets and associated budgets has been overturned in Tynwald.
Middle MHK Stu Peters wanted a more 'pragmatic' approach to climate change to focus on strengthening the wider economy.
Member for Garff, Daphne Caine, was one of those who opposed his suggestion:
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper presented an amendment, suggesting that Tynwald instead recognises the role net-zero targets play in strengthening the Manx economy for the benefit of all Island residents.
The motion with that amendment passed with 23 votes for and six against.
