Most medical appointments will be cancelled due to Storm Éowyn

Manx Care making a number of changes due to red weather warning

Most planned medical appointments will be cancelled tomorrow (25 January) due to incoming Storm Éowyn.

A red weather warning for violent storm force winds will come in at 7am on Friday.

Manx Care says due to this it’s making a number of changes to protect the safety of patients, service users and staff.

This includes:

  • Appointments will be cancelled unless there is a ‘clinical imperative’ for them to proceed.
  • Essential community visits will still go ahead as normal.
  • Learning disability and older people day services are suspended.
  • Drop-in vaccination clinic for Covid/flu at Morton Hall, Castletown, has now been postponed to 31 January 2025.
  • The final day of the Healthy Mums, Healthy Baby Week event has been cancelled.
  • If you have a planned GP appointment the practice will contact you if arrangements have changed.
  • If you have a planned dental appointment the practice will contact you if arrangements have changed.
  • Pharmacies are not scheduled to be closed but circumstances may change.

Patient who are due to travel off-Island for treatment tomorrow have been asked to rearrange the appointments directly with the UK trusts if their flights have been cancelled.

Those due to fly back to the Island on Friday, and who find their flights are cancelled, are asked to contact Loganair.

Patients due to travel back via sea, and who need assistance, should contact Patient Transfers.

Manx Care says anyone who requires urgent or emergency treatment will continue to receive it.
