More challenges than ever for potential first time buyers

An Island estate agent admits young people trying to get on the property ladder are facing more challenges than ever.

Latest government figures suggest more than half of the population could not afford to buy their own home, based on the average house price and a mortgage lending rate of three and three quarter times the average salary.

Tim Groves from Black Grace Cowley says although there are schemes to help young buyers, home ownership is out of reach for many people trying to get onto the local property market.
