Minister's cow shed plan 'innappropriate'

No need for stand-alone building says committee

The environment minister has been refused planning permission to rebuild a burnt down cow shed on his estate, after it was found to be in breach of government policy to protect the countryside.

Geoffrey Boot's application on the property of his Ballagarraghyn Mansion in Greeba, was deemed inappropriate by the planning committee in their meeting on Monday.  

They came to the decision that Mr Boot's proposal to construct an agricultural store was unjustified and that there was no need for a stand-alone rural building.

A spokesperson for the planning authority said their decision was carried out independently and he was assessed no differently from anyone else.

Anyone with Interested Person Status has 21 days to lodge an appeal to the committee's decision.
