
Two senior government ministers have fired a broadside at MHK Alf Cannan over his comments on the future of the Island's National Insurance Fund.
Mr Cannan has criticised government for its handling of a dramatic decline in the fund, which is forecast to start collapsing within two decades, jeopardising the state pensions of Island residents.
The Michael MHK has also questioned the three-quarters of a million pounds being spent on consultants advising government on future options.
However, as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr Cannan is presiding over an inquiry into that expenditure.
Today Treasury Minister Eddie Teare and Policy and Reform boss Chris Robertshaw rebuked Mr Cannan for what they say was 'an astonishing outburst'.
