Pest control attends Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital 39 times since May 2025
The pest control company employed by government to carry out inspections at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital has attended the site on 39 separate occasions since May 2025.
The information is contained in a written response by Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood to a Tynwald question tabled by Onchan MHK Julie Edge.
Part of the hospital is currently closed to deal with pest control issues and carry out improvements to the facility. It follows the earlier closure of Martin Ward for similar reasons.
The Onchan member asked how many pest control inspections were carried out in the last five years at both Ramsey and District Cottage and Nobles Hospitals.
In a comprehensive reply the DoI Minister provided figures to show that pest issues recorded covered ants, insects, wasps, bees, flies, rodents and birds. In the case of the Ramsey facility the number of pest reports rose from just six in 2022 to 22 last year.
At Noble's Hospital incidents ranged between 40 and 45 in the years 2021 to 2024, but dropped to 25 last year.
