The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says it would back a new charge on plastic bags to discourage people using them.
It follows the news that the UK plans to start charging 5p for bags for the first time in England in 2015.
DEFA Minister Phil Gawne says there’s no official government policy surrounding the use of plastic shopping bags.
But he says it is something his department is seriously considering in order to cut down waste:
