Minimum wage rise to affect job chances? 

There's concerns apprenticeship offerings will decrease

Is the rise of minimum wage going to affect those applying for jobs? 

Representatives of Junior Achievement Isle of Man believe it will change employers' pay structure and apprenticeship offerings. 

Speaking at the Tynwald Youth Committee this week (19 November) Julia Callow and Sue Cook spoke to a number of students about job options for young people. 

They say it's likely to affect those looking to start a career: 

From 1 April, there will be 9.9 percent increase in the minimum wage, from £12.25 to £13.46.

Recently, the enterprise minister announced that no impact assessment had been taken on how the rise would affect young people. 

It was also confirmed by Tim Johnston that less than 60 people had responded to the government's survey that set out to gather demographic information.
