Possible £500 fine
Time is up for pet owners who haven't had their dogs microchipped.
From today (October 1), it is a legally enforceable requirement to fit all canines with the tiny devices - including working dogs.
The laws were brought in back in April, bringing an end to traditional dog licences.
Failure to have a dog microchipped is now punishable by a fine of up to £500.
The painless procedure can be carried out by any vet.
