Request for committee to investigate issue
The lack of nursery places on the Island is a barrier to parents looking to re-enter work - that's according to North Douglas MHK David Ashford.
He says he's been contacted by both parents and providers who are concerned by the shortage of spaces for children at nurseries, particularly for those under two years old.
Mr Ashford is asking Tynwald this January to approve his proposal for a committee to be set up, investigating the adequacy of local nursery provision
He says many who'd like to get a job are held back by the current situation:
Activities paused at Douglas RNLI as 'precautionary' step
'Meaningful change' needed to ensure long-term future of sidecars at TT
The future of bus travel?
