Jason Moorhouse urges pause and reassessment of onshore wind project after millions spent on consultancy fees
A backbench MHK is raising concerns about the growing cost of the Isle of Man’s proposed onshore wind farm.
Jason Moorhouse has tabled a question in the House of Keys seeking updated figures on the total spend to date and the projected final cost of the project.
In July 2023, Manx Utilities estimated the full cost of the Cair Vie wind farm would be around £40 million.
Recent figures have shown that more than £3 million has already been spent on consultancy fees alone.
Mr Moorhouse says he believes there is a lack of clarity around the scheme and claims transparency is diminishing.
He is calling on the Council of Ministers to pause the project and carry out an objective assessment of whether it remains the right option for the Island:
