Michelle Haywood fulfils promise to plant daffodils

A number of daffodil plants have been installed on a road in the south of the Island - or rather, in it.

In Tynwald last month, Rushen MHK Michelle Haywood says she promised to 'highlight the biggest potholes in Port St Mary High Street by planting daffodils'.

Today (16 March), with the help of local residents, Dr Haywood fulfilled that promise.

In a statement on social media, she said: "Thank you to the bus drivers and car drivers that drove carefully past them. I know they won’t last….but if the pot holes are still there in the summer I will be planting geraniums.

"I will keep on drawing attention to the disastrous state of this road until DoI actually sorts out fixing it. I hope not to have to consider planting mini Christmas trees or winter pansies…."

In last month's parliamentary sitting, Dr Haywood's constituency colleague Juan Watterson asked the Minister for Infrastructure when the funding request for investigation works and detailed design for Port St Mary High Street was submitted to the Treasury.
