43-year-old's inquest is opened and adjourned

The inquest into the death of a motorcycle racer who died on the first day of this year’s Manx Grand Prix has been opened.

Louis O’Regan sustained multiple injuries in a high-speed collision on the Mountain Road on 18 August.

The 43-year-old was pronounced dead near Kate’s Cottage just after 5pm.

At Douglas Courthouse today (30 August) the deputy coroner of inquests confirmed investigations into his death are ongoing.

Releasing the Didcot man’s body so that funeral arrangements can take place she offered her condolences to his family and friends.

It was a sentiment echoed by the advocate representing the Auto Cycle Union who was also in court.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be set.
