Tower Mint to take on role
Manx sterling coins will come from a new supplier as of next year.
London-based Tower Mint is take over the production of metal currency from current supplier Pobjoy Mint - ending a 41-year relationship with Treasury.
Tower currently manufactures legal tender for governments in Ghana and Tuvalu; as well as Gibraltar - which has recently phased out 1p and 2p copper coins.
Government is anticipating talks with the UK Treasury over the new contract.
The new coins will be phased in here from 1 April.
