The Island would benefit from a Human Rights Commissioner.
That's the belief of Island advocate Paul Beckett who was speaking at meeting of the Positive Action Group last night (Mon) on Disability and Equality.
The Bill is currently out for public consultation and is set to prohibit discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion and sexual orientation.
The meeting also heard from Champion for Deaf People Gareth Foulkes.
Mr Beckett says citizens' human rights already exist and a commissioner could help ensure those rights were upheld.
