Time for 'big debate' says Minister
The use of cannabis for medicinal purposes will form part of a joint review of the drug by government.
Bosses from Home Affairs and the Department of Health and Social Care are investigating the existing ban on its recreational use, alongside the potential for treating chronic conditions.
It's hoped the findings will be published later this year, along with recommendations for ministers.
The review was launched after cannabis prosecutions were blamed for an 11% spike in crime in the Island last year.
Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey said it was time for a 'big debate'.
