Meat plant operators say progress being made under new leadership

Business now on much firmer ground

The operators of the Island's meat plant at Tromode say progress is being made and the door is open for dialogue with producers.

The Isle of Man Meat Company says that since the new Board took over in late September last year the business is now on much firmer ground with new leadership, clearer direction and a focus on practical improvements.

The latest update points to a number of key achievements which include a drop in waiting times for livestock from 12 weeks to zero. It also says cattle processing speeds have more than doubled from 9 to over 20 per hour.

The company's workforce has been expanded with the addition of 11 skilled butchers from the Philippines, after a local recruitment programme failed to fill the vacancies.
