There are over thirty people from the Island competing in today's Virgin Money London Marathon.
Some are hardened veterans at the event, others are raising money for charity and some are doing it as a personal challenge.
One of the latter category is Donna Quirk who is running with her mum Moira Hall raising money for Hospice Isle of Man.
While mum is no stranger to long distance running, this is the first marathon for Donna.
She says it was one thing on her bucket-list of things to do before you are forty.
Donna says her only previous long distance experience came in a walking race:
'Essential' that school staff recognise the signs of an allergic reaction
'Parks in worse state then when I started' says Peel commissioner
