
A volunteer with the Island's army cadet force has risen through the ranks to a senior leadership role.
Dean Johnson, from Douglas, has made history after being appointed from 'within the ranks' to Cadet Commandant, a position usually awarded to a retired regular army officer.
As figurehead for the ACF, Commandant Johnson takes on responsibility for organising military-style activities for 125 young cadets and overseeing a large group of adult volunteers.
He says the promotion offers a huge challenge, but is one he'll share with a dedicated team:
