Calls to increase awareness of problem in UK schools
Manx school pupils were being taught about 'fake news' long before Donald Trump popularised the term.
The education minister, Graham Cregeen, made the claim in Tynwald earlier, following questions from Keys speaker Juan Watterson.
It follows calls to increase awareness of the problem in UK schools, where three quarters of youngsters told an Ofcom survey they were 'aware' not all news was factual.
Mr Cregeen said curriculum subjects like history and politics already include learning about bias and untrustworthy accounts - but department staff were looking at working with the BBC to develop a more targeted approach.
