
Relay team tours north, central and west
More Manx hands have been gripping the 2018 Commonwealth Games baton, as a relay carrying it around the Isle of Man continues.
The Queen's Baton Relay is on a three day visit to the Island, the latest step on a journey to Australia, where the games will be held in April next year.
Games officials were greeted by athletes taking part in a triathlon at Mooragh Park in Ramsey this morning (3 Sept) and a number of talented sporting youngsters carried the baton on its way.
Sunday's itinerary includes visits to the Grandstand, Isle of Man Hospice and Moore's Kipper Factory in Peel.
Trevor Taubman is Isle of Man general team manager for Gold Coast 2018. He says the baton has a strong symbolic appeal:
