Events to mark anniversary of folklorist's death
A prominent Manx folklorist from the 19th century was integral to the survival of Manx culture - that's according to the director of Culture Vannin.
Sophia Morrison was an active collector who believed in the preservation of Manx language and culture says Dr Breeshey Maddrell
She'll be giving a talk about Morrison this weekend as one of a raft of events on the anniversary of her death.
The influential figure was perhaps most famous for her collection of Manx Fairy Tales, published in 1911.
Dr Maddrell says Morrison's legacy inspires the work of future generations:
"We think it's inhumane the way he was treated."
