Manx Care's forecast overspend down to £16.8million

Board acknowledges challenges of bringing down deficit

Manx Care is now forecasting a £16.8million overspend for this financial year.

That's an improved picture compared to figures given in July, when the health body was expecting to go over by £18.7million.

The budget for the Island's health service this year is just under £347million.

At the latest board meeting, members said things such as pay awards are adding pressure to the finances.

However, it's thought the deficit can be brought down by a further £11million approximately.

Finance Director Jackie Lawless said they are "now looking at further opportunities" to make savings.
