Manx Care reports increase in Covid and other respiratory illnesses

Healthcare provider says infections continue to circulate in summer months

Manx Care says the Island is experiencing an increase in reported cases of Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses.

The health body says infections continue to circulate as we go into the summer months.

The UK is also reporting new strains of Covid circulating in the community, with a rise in hospital admissions.

Patients report respiratory problems, severe cough and extremely sore throat.

The advice to members of the public remains the same for Covid and other respiratory illnesses; if you are feeling unwell it's important to take steps to recover and stop the spread.

This includes practising good hand and respiratory hygiene, drinking plenty of fluids, eating a healthy diet and staying at home and away from healthcare settings.

If you work with vulnerable people and have tested positive for coronavirus, you should not return to work until five days have elapsed since your initial positive result to avoid spreading the illness to others.
