Manx Care 'has work to do' to improve culture

3-year strategy expected to be considered at next board meeting

It's clear Manx Care has more work to do to improve the culture within the organisation for its staff.

That's from the healthcare board's Chief Executive Teresa Cope after cultural and leadership issues were highlighted by a survey of Manx doctors.

76% of those who responded to the 'Culture of Care Barometer' survey said Manx Care doesn't have a positive culture.

With a three-year strategy to tackle this due to go before Manx Care's board meeting next month, Mrs Cope says it's vital the organisation makes changes:

Health Minister Lawrie Hooper said in a statement: "I am unable to provide a comment on the BMA Survey results at this time, as the report was not shared with the Department of Health and Social Care ahead of publication. 

"Once the Department has had time to properly review the document we will respond appropriately. I can confirm we have met with the BMA today to discuss the situation on Island. We had a positive discussion focused on how we work together to move forward."
