21-year-old former Ballakermeen student reacted to news on Instagram
Manx actor Joe Locke has been nominated for two major awards across the pond.
The 21-year-old has secured an Independent Spirit Award nomination in the 'Best Breakthrough Performance in a new scripted series' category and a Saturn Award nomination in the 'Best Younger Performer in a TV Series' category.
Both nominations are for his performance in the Marvel TV series Agatha All Along, which aired on Disney+.
He portrayed Billy Kaplan in the WandaVision spinoff series, rounding off a cast full of big names, including comedic actresses Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza and Broadway star Patti LuPone.
Reacting to the Independent Spirit Award nomination on Instagram, the former Ballakermeen student wrote: “Woweeeeee!” alongside a crying emoji.
The Independent Spirit Awards are presented annually in Santa Monica, California, and the 40th edition of the ceremony will be held on 22 February 2025.
They'll be hosted by actress and comedian Aidy Bryant - who is best known for her work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.
Fellow Agatha All Along stars Kathryn Hahn and Patti LuPone are also up for awards on the night.
Joe will be up against Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), Diarra Kilpatrick (Diarra From Detroit) Megan Stott (Penelope) and Hoa Xuande (The Sympathizer).
Previous winners include Keivonn Montreal Woodard for his performance in The Last of Us.
Meanwhile, the Saturn Awards are presented annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.
The 52nd edition of the ceremony will be held about three weeks earlier on 2 February 2025 in Los Angeles.
Fellow Agatha All Along stars Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza are also up for awards on the night; along with the show itself in the 'Best Superhero Television Series' category.
Joe will be seeing off competition from Zackary Arthur (Chucky), Hannah Cheramy (From), Cameron Crovetti (The Boys), Rhenzy Feliz (The Penguin), Xolo Marinduena (Cobra Kai) and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon).
