A court’s heard how the trauma of being attacked with a bottle and stabbed has left a man from the Island a stone lighter and suffering insomnia.
Andrew England of Douglas was attacked by Karl Higgins and Raymond Donnan at a Swedish House Mafia gig in Dublin in July last year.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard from an undercover police officer who saw a fight break out between eight men and four women before Mr England tried to intervene.
Higgins smashed a glass bottle over his head, while Donnan repeatedly stabbed Mr England in the back.
Mr England was treated by paramedics at the scene, suffering head injuries, a sliced right arm and seven stab wounds to his side and back.
Medical reports submitted the court as well as a victim impact statement by Mr England said he now has difficulty sleeping because of anxiety.
He told the court he’s taken a number of sick days since the attack, having not had one in five years up to the incident, and has lost a stone in weight.
Higgins, of Clondalkin, admitted violent disorder and has been jailed for five years – the last two suspended - while Donnan has pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and will be sentenced at a later date.
