A man was cut from his car as it was struck by waves at high tide on Douglas promenade.

The fire service have released more details of yesterday's rescue, after a man was injured and became stranded in his vehicle.

Teams describe pushing the car to safety amid 'worsening conditions'.

The driver had head and suspected neck injuries when large waves hit his car on the walkway.

The promenade was closed for hours as the severe overtopping caused damage along the stretch from the Sea Terminal to Broadway.
