Man admits robbing Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish

A man from East London has admitted robbing Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish at his home in Essex last year.

Ali Sesay, from Holding Street in Rainham, stole a watch, phone and safe.

He also robbed his wife, Peta, of a watch, phone and suitcase.  

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court today – he’d previously denied the two charges but changed his pleas to guilty at a hearing today (31 August).

Cavendish and his wife were threatened at their home in the Ongar area of Essex at about 2.35am on November 27.

Two more defendants, 31-year-old Romario Henry and Oludewa Okorosobo, 28, deny two counts of robbery and are due to stand trial from January 3.

Henry, of Bell Green in Lewisham in south-east London, and Okorosobo, of Flaxman Road in Camberwell in south London, are both remanded in custody.

Sesay was remanded in custody – his sentencing will be adjourned until the outcome of the trial of the other two defendants.
